| These guys went through several rounds of tough play until eventually we had
eliminated all but 7 of the BEST players. Then, in a 20 minute slugfest, Brad
Caplan began to systematically make is prowess obvious to everyone in the
restaurant. Ohhs and Ahhs filled the Rodeo Steakhouse as the best of the best
fought it out for what seemed like forever. The race for 2nd through 7th was close
though, but in the end Mike Stephens and Brad Edgeworth pulled through the
gunsmoke and pipebombs to take 2nd and 3rd. Some of the extra prizes that went out to these three guys include Official Duke Nukem 3D T-Shirts, the Duke Nukem 3D Screen Saver, autographed Duke Nukem 3D posters and game boxes (signed by everyone in the picture on the back cover the Duke Nukem 3D CD cover). All of these, and many MANY more gifts were so generously donated by the people at 3D Realms/Apogee. Thanks to everyone who came! |
| Surprise! | Quite possibly the highlight of everyone's day was getting the chance to meet
several of the guys who came out to the tournament from 3D Realms/Apogee!

It was a real surprise for everyone at the tournament to get to meet the guys responsible for making this fabulous game! Budding level desingers got the chance to discuss level making tips with Allen Blum and Richard Gray. People got to finally meet the man responsible for replying to the thousands of emails sent to Apogee/3D Realms, Joe Siegler. After the tournament was over, those that stayed to the bitter end got the chance to actually play these Duke 3D gurus at their own game! And, in a thrilling battle, The Beast Brad Caplan proved why he was the first ever Duke Nukem 3D Rodeo Shootout Champion! Here is the breakdown of the special surprise round.
